HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 10

Requesting the Division of Highways to name Bridge Number
19-3405B O.07 "3744" 0.07 miles south of Junction on U.S.
340 in Jefferson County, the John Adam Link Bridge.
Whereas, John Adam Link II, born December 31, 1757 in Berks
County, Pennsylvania, purchased a track of land on Israel Creek
in Frederick County, Maryland, which is now part of Jefferson
County, West Virginia; and
Whereas, John Adam Link married Jan Ogle, April 14, 1783, in
Frederick County, Maryland. John and Elizabeth had seven
children, Elizabeth born in 1783, Mary Catherine born in 1785,
Martha born in 1787, John born in 1790, Mary born in 1792,
Rebecca born in 1795, and John Adam Link III born in 1797; and
Whereas, John Adam Link II was commissioned June 29, 1782, as
an Ensign in Captain Peter Barricks Company of the Catoctin
Battalion of Frederick County Militia in the Revolutionary War;
and
Whereas, John Adam Link died September 28, 1835, leaving
behind a long and colorful history, having served in the American Revolution, many of his artifacts are on display in museums in
Maryland and West Virginia; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the aforementioned bridge in Jefferson County be named
the John Adam Link Bridge, and that appropriate signs
designating this bridge be erected; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the House forward a copy
of this resolution to the Division of Highways.
